news and exhibitions
I am showing six pieces of work at the Contemporary Printmakers exhibition at the Shire Hall Gallery, Market Square, Stafford between 12th November and 31st December. For those that don’t know it, this is a lovely, large open gallery taking up the ground floor of the beautiful Georgian Shire Hall in Stafford, which has gained a reputation for showing accessible, well-respected art. There will be a preview evening on Friday 11th November between 6 and 9pm, when refreshments will be served.
Nearer to home, I will be exhibiting work at 105 Oxford Street, Totterdown for Front Room 2011 (the Totterdown arts trail) between 18th and 20th November. I have created new large scale hangings, inspired by my trip to Japan last year, for the rather spacious stairwell of 105 Oxford Street. In addition, there will be beautiful work by Jean Hathaway and Andrew Hardwick, photographs by Bridget Gander and ceramics by Ella Phillips and Helen Varley. There’s much more information about us and all the venues and artists here: http://www.frontroom.org.uk/index.cfm?fuseaction=artists.list. It’s usually a great weekend (despite the inclement November weather) and very walkable.
I always have a selection of new work, of mainly, but not exclusively, North Somerset views at The Fizz Gallery, 65a Hill Road, Clevedon. There will be a preview of their Christmas exhibition on Friday 18th November between 5.30 and 9pm, when there will be drinks, nibbles and plenty of gift ideas. There will be a selection of my new work, including some drypoint etchings hot off the press.
Many thanks to all who made it to The Glass Room, Colston Hall on Thursday 1st September for the preview of my first solo exhibition- it was a great evening and it was brilliant to see so many of you – especially those from further afield.
Though the exhibition of my work at the Brean Down Cafe has now been taken down, you can still see a selection of my work at www.localjourneys.org.uk, who are organising a number of exciting events to promote Brean Down this year. The website will also be enabling people to download a special online book based on my prints of Brean Down.
